Packaging Materials — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between ESD-safe and standard industrial packaging?

ESD-safe packaging (containers, bags, bubble wrap, foam) is made from dissipative or conductive polymer that drains static charge from electronics in a controlled way, meeting ANSI/ESD S20.20 surface resistivity (10⁴-10¹¹ Ω/sq). Standard industrial packaging (stretch film, BOPP tape, EPE foam, kraft) is sized for protection and unitization but is electrically insulating — using it directly on bare PCBs or unbagged components can damage parts through tribocharging or charged-device discharge. Pair ESD-safe inner packaging with standard outer packaging for cost-effective shipping.

Can I order ESD packaging and standard packaging together?

Yes. Most B2B buyers combine ESD containers / anti-static bags as inner packaging with stretch film, BOPP tape, EPE foam, and protective film as outer packaging on a single LA-shipped pallet. We consolidate and ship same-day on stock items. One purchase order, one quote, one freight charge.

What stretch film thickness should I use?

Hand-applied stretch film: 70-80 gauge (17-20 μm) for light pallet loads under 500 lb, 90-100 gauge (22-25 μm) for medium loads. Machine stretch film: 60-80 gauge with pre-stretch, lighter than hand film at the same load because the machine pre-stretches before applying. Cast LLDPE for clarity, blown LLDPE for tear resistance and load retention on heavy / irregular loads.

Is BOPP sealing tape better than acrylic packing tape?

BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) with acrylic adhesive is the standard for shipping cartons — clear, water-resistant, holds in cold conditions (down to ~32°F), and most cost-effective. Hot-melt rubber adhesive BOPP holds better on heavy cartons and dusty corrugated but yellows over time. For cold-storage shipping, use hot-melt rubber rated to -20°F. We stock both adhesive types in widths 38mm to 60mm.

Do you offer custom-printed tape and warning tape?

Yes. Custom-printed BOPP tape (logo, fragile warnings, batch codes) is available with a 1-color or 2-color print, minimum 36 rolls per design. Warning tape (ESD WARNING / FRAGILE / THIS SIDE UP) is stocked in red, yellow, and blue. Lead time on custom print: 3-4 weeks.
