ESD Container — Frequently Asked Questions

What is conductive PP and why is it used for ESD containers?

Conductive PP (polypropylene) is polypropylene with carbon black or carbon fiber loading that gives it a permanent surface resistance of 10⁴ to 10⁹ Ω/sq. This drains static charge from ESD-sensitive components in a controlled way and meets ANSI/ESD S20.20 requirements. Unlike topical anti-static sprays, conductive PP keeps its properties for the life of the container — it does not wash off, age out, or lose performance below 20% relative humidity.

Which ESD container SKU fits a 600×400 mm Euro footprint?

The TSC-CONTAINER-ESD-600 (600 × 500 × 400 mm) and several stackable storage boxes in the catalog are sized for the standard 600×400 mm Euro / Foxconn footprint. Are foldable ESD boxes really worth it vs rigid containers?

Yes for returnable / closed-loop programs. Foldable ESD boxes collapse to about 20% of erected volume, cutting empty-return freight cost roughly 4× compared with rigid containers. For one-way shipping or stationary storage, rigid containers (ESD storage box, PCB rack) are simpler and stack more reliably. We size the foldable box family on pallet footprints (1200×1000 and 1200×800).

Can I get custom sizes or custom cavity inserts?

Yes. Custom PCB ESD trays are thermoformed from your CAD or sample with a 500-tray MOQ and a 4-6 week lead time from drawing approval through first article. Custom cavity inserts for our PG548 PS tray and other standard footprints are also available. Email sales@tysonsupplychain.com with the part drawing or a scan of the bare PCB for a tooling quote.

Do you offer cleanroom-compatible ESD containers?

Yes. Several of our permanent dissipative HDPE containers are cleanroom compatible (Class 1000 / ISO 6 typical, Class 100 / ISO 5 on validated SKUs). Specify cleanroom requirement on the quote — we can ship double-bagged and provide a particulate compliance statement.

What is the lead time on stocked ESD container SKUs?

Stocked container SKUs ship same-day from Los Angeles. Typical domestic ground transit is 1-3 business days within the continental US, 3-5 days to Canada, 3-7 days to Mexico. Expedited freight (LTL, air) is available on request.
